In addition to our June travels (I am still sorting Swiss pics), all of Mr. Radish’s Berlin relatives and also some friends who emigrated have been in town. My social calendar has been overfull (and my people-battery completely drained). The heat is shrinking my brain and I am not 100% recovered from the thing (radiation sand-bagged me, even after it was over). It’s a giant pain in the ass to set up the external keyboard on the kitchen table, which we need for eating–and I’m not hauling the whole caboodle to Fort Dodge next week. Making the journey is stressful enough.
Finally, I too read the Norwegian research into how the brain operates during handwriting.
So it’s time to try something new: I can hand-write blog posts and have them transcribed to text (I am using Grok, I need to teach it to double-space after a period), which I can edit on the tablet.
I hate trying to write on mobile devices, I hate the virtual keyboard, I hate the way the whole thing refreshes and I lose my sentences if I double-check a fact in a different tab or app, but I think if I can paste in the bulk of my writing the editing should be okay.
(Yes, I edit, I know it’s hard to tell…)

Photo editing/processing may be a little more challenging, but I think I can keep up with terrible phone photos on my tablet while I am in Fort Dodge…if I have anything to say in Fort Dodge. I’m looking forward to walking around Walmart for an hour marvelling at all the new junk foods that have been invented since 2021. Maybe there’s a meatball.
This method should also improve the movie posts: I can flesh out my notes from the couch or a doctor’s waiting room instead of a week later when I finally sit down at the keyboard and have forgotten what I wanted to say.
The words and images will continue to be human-generated. There’s really no point in keeping a blog if I don’t write it myself.
