We’re officially in the Christmas vacation, but we’ve burned ourselves out on “getting in the car and going somewhere.” Oops.
Adventsfest, Freising (city, one day only)
A mini-celebration of year four of the five-year reconstruction of the Hauptstraße (or maybe it’s six years? No one knows anymore!). There was a short speech followed by live music and free Glühwein and sausages.
It was wet, and icy, and snowing, and we had a good time, and we were home by dark–which is awfully early these days.
Mr Radish’s Parents’ Home (super-private, one day only)
Not actually a Christmas market, but since Mr Radish’s mother was unable to get out in the ice and snow, we brought some Glühwein and cookies to her, and she served it in hand-blown crystal glasses that had been owned by Mr R’s great-grandfather. They make a beautiful ringing sound when you clink them in a toast. I just wanted to share those. (In the background you see Scrabble; we play a vintage version with 8 tiles on the rack. I came in dead last, but I made some fun words, including BLEI on a double-hook.)
