In quilting and crafting, for many years “UFO<\/strong>“<\/a> has meant “U<\/strong>nF<\/strong>inished O<\/strong>bject<\/a>“. So I wondered: now that “UAP<\/strong>” (U<\/strong>nidentified A<\/strong>erial P<\/strong>henomenon) has replaced “UFO” in the “strange sightings of stuff in the sky but we’re all intellectural and science-y, not like you woo-woo freaks” community, has anyone in the quilting\/crafting communities developed a cute word play?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a full minute and a half of poking around the internets, I decided to invent one myself. UAP<\/strong>: U<\/strong>ninteresting A<\/strong>nnoying P<\/strong>roject. Everybody with a creative hobby–even cooking or baking–has been forced to spend time and materials on UAPs. Perfunctory holiday gifts, costumes or accessories for school projects and events, wedding d\u00e9cor and invitations, party favors, y’all know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s necessary, but boring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am attempting to fly to Iowa next week–until I have a negative ‘rona test<\/a> in my cold mangled hand, it’s not a sure thing–and will be required to wear cloth masks on the planes and during my seven-hour (you read that right) layover. The Bavarian government requires specific non-medical paper dust masks, so I never got around to making a festive mask wardrobe.<\/a> Until now! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I resent the waste of time, but at least now the cat fabric can be seen outside my sewing room. And they’ll keep my chins warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
