I would like to be able to type “I have not been posting about stitching because I have been stitching” but I have not been posting about stitching because I have been doing a zillion things and stitching is only a fraction thereof. For example, Mr Radish surprised me with a shiny new Handy<\/em> with a bunch of fancy camera settings and I lost two weeks of my life to a match-three game called Garfield’s Snack Time. Sigh. It has been deleted. Sigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impfpassh\u00fclle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A protective cover for my EU Vaccination Passport. Fun story, the Hausarzt<\/em> was really unhappy with me a few years ago when he asked for my vaccination records, and I don’t have any because my mother threw all that stuff away decades ago. He put me on a booster regimen and now I have records. The booklet is the same size and color as my cat’s vaccination booklet; I fully expect to mix them up and get myself a rabies sticker. (I *am* fully vaccinated against Tick-Borne Encephalitis<\/a>; it’s a three-shot series and Bavaria is a known risk area.)

This project came from the German-language Bernina blog<\/a>\/weekly newsletter and included a 1 cm seam allowance. I hate sewing in metric. I had to rip the whole thing apart at one point, and I am unsatisfied with the corners. (The corners on Mr Radish’s look better.) But it functions, and I feel swank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brewers Baseball Cap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My bear Hannele needed a Brewers hat and a dress to go with it. The hat is hand-stitched and it was really difficult to get the fingers on my left hand curled up in the inside so I could finish it off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vaarkra Fairies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These bewitching creatures are Mousevaarks<\/a>. The original designer’s website doesn’t come up anymore, but you can still get a free pattern<\/a> to make your own. I would like to make more of these, but I will replace the rice with some small rocks, because I worry about insects and humidity.

The Fairies use song and meditation to summon Vaarkra, a giant monster friend of Vaarkzilla. Hi, I’m Radish, and I have been watching too many Japanese monster movies<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
