OTOH, I have learned a lot about lights, lenses, and costuming from Justine Bateman&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JustineBateman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"#SocialMediaVideosCritique\">#SocialMediaVideosCritique<\/a> posts. <a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.cambridge.org\/dictionary\/english\/it-is-what-it-is\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"IIWII\">IIWII<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-12b07783849180d7a72133c15ac6f248\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt7978758\/?ref_=ls_t_2\">Apollo 10\u00bd: A Space Age Childhood<\/a> (2022)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Netflix, original English<\/em><br>Somehow I thought this animated feature about a boy who lived in Houston at the time of the moon race would be about the mission, but it was an autobiography, written several decades later. I enjoyed it anyway, as he explains all the customs and technologies of every-day suburban family life in 1969&#8211;most of which were still in effect in State Center in 1985. Mr Radish also enjoyed it; some things were similar in his childhood as well.<br><br>Recommended for all my peer with grandkids who don&#8217;t understand that a phone used to hang on the wall, and you used to answer it to find out who was disrupting your supper, and TV stopped at midnight. Sit and watch it together, with all your other screens turned off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8f546d93ea49130eaa6a4fae5e2fe4d9\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0059549\/?ref_=ls_t_1\">Operation Crossbow<\/a> (1965)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Cable (Warner Film), original German and English<\/em><br>A British homage to their WWII intelligence and spy network, although for some reason the hero is a US officer played by Steve McQueen.  It starts with them piecing together the V2 development at Peenem\u00fcnde so they could destroy it, then they insert a secret agent undercover into an underground forced-labor research facility making a rocket that could hit New York.  Lots and lots of explosions at the end. Sophia Loren gets second-billing for two scenes. Caught all the franchise sci-fi fan service, and laughed at all the slapstick.  I&#8217;m looking forward to the upcoming Wallace and Gromit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonna mess up my <a href=\"https:\/\/radishthegreat.com\/blog\/2021\/01\/02\/radishflix-2020-countries-of-origin-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"end-of-year language analysis\">end-of-year language analysis<\/a>, though.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0093828\/?ref_=ls_t_7\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3484a868a39d857012059e2c7046a5fc\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0093828\/?ref_=ls_t_7\">Real Men<\/a> (1987)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>tubi, original English<\/em><br>I recently saw the last five minutes of the <em>Law &amp; Order<\/em> where John Ritter&#8217;s character murders his own unborn son and thought, &#8220;He was really good, I really should watch some of his comedy.&#8221; Haven&#8217;t found <em>Three&#8217;s Company <\/em>where I can easily get at it, but the panopticon heard my thoughts and this buddy comedy with Jim Belushi popped up on my device. Ritter plays a very staid family man and Belushi is a Bond-type federal agent who recruits and trains him on a cross-country trip. The mission: a trade deal with extraterrestrials.<br><br>Even when I&#8217;m not looking for UFO films, they find me.<br><br>I laughed where I was supposed to and marveled at people smoking in bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-56ee0e6556d058a02b2586501f218465\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0071565\/?ref_=ls_t_6\">Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla<\/a> (1974)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>tubi, original Japanese with English subtitles<\/em><br>The first of a Japanese rubber-monster mini-marathon.<br>They were all kind of the same, with differences only in the costumes\/hairstyles\/technology of the humans, but I am honestly tired of &#8220;serious films&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7ee6f7c3396d04e2e7a85a7a7566c51b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0059346\/?ref_=ls_t_5\">Invasion of Astro-Monster<\/a> (1965)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>tubi, English<\/em><br>Same thoughts as the last one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6a58eb34da76aeab3ff2de4f151f6fd3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0058379\/?ref_=ls_t_4\">Mothra vs. Godzilla<\/a> (1964)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>tubi, original Japanese with English subtitles<\/em><br>What I forgot, or maybe didn&#8217;t realize fully, is that the kaiju can die, and this is as bad as a dog getting murdered.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0048801\/?ref_=ls_t_3\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7b46f3724a32dfd26ea10986b4c4b839\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0048801\/?ref_=ls_t_3\">We&#8217;re No Angels<\/a> (1955)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>arte Mediathek, Deutsch<\/em><br>The Christmas films, which I generally hate, started a little early this year.  This comedy, based on a French stage play and set in French Guyana, features Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray, and Peter Ustinov (Did you know Peter Ustinov&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/anglo-ethiopian.org\/publications\/articles.php?type=A&amp;reference=publications\/articles\/2004summer\/sirpeterustinov.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">had Ethiopian ancestry<\/a>?) as escaped convicts who set out to steal some stuff from a merchant and his family on Christmas Eve. After eavesdropping a bit, they take pity and help the family with some family\/romance\/financial problems before hopping on a ship back to France. I think I like this way of telling a story, but I had forgotten how sad the ending is.  Also, I can read subtitles, so I don&#8217;t actually need stories to be told this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d649d6f1153cc0df207d5e3956db4dbe\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1861439\/?ref_=ls_t_3\">Wyatt Earp&#8217;s Revenge<\/a> (2012)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Cable (AXN Black), Deutsch<\/em><br>I can&#8217;t handle seeing any more kaiju die, so it&#8217;s time to watch some humans die, I guess. I don&#8217;t know why it wasn&#8217;t available in English, but anyway&#8230;.it was poorly written and the casting was questionable. Mostly Canadian actors I recognized from <em>Psych<\/em> and <em>Hudson &amp; Rex<\/em>, and all too metrosexual\/manscaped for the time period portrayed. There&#8217;s no way in hell Spike Kennedy moisturized while he was on the lam, FFS! I also got a bit confused by flashed-back events not being presented in chronological order. <br><br>Recommended only for Val Kilmer completists, of which I may be one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f5df2e337edf57d38fa9370d7a06842c\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1856101\/?ref_=ls_t_2\">Blade Runner 2049<\/a> (2017)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Cable (Warner Film), original English<\/em><br>I know everyone loves this one, but I didn&#8217;t need it. I was annoyed by the oversaturated colors, the bizarre noises, the weird glitching visual effects, and it was at least half an hour too long.<br><br>The AI girlfriend for sale seems like a prediction that&#8217;s coming true, and I hate that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e667cded07de15a50847f2cf70fc2d83\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0204313\/?ref_=ls_t_1\">Exorcist: The Beginning<\/a> (2004)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Netflix, original English<\/em><br>With the set-up and character already established from <a href=\"https:\/\/radishthegreat.com\/blog\/2022\/02\/01\/your-january-2022-radishflix-highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"the original story\">the original story<\/a>, this could have been an interesting story about the origins of evil. Unfortunately, most of it was silly, with gross-out effects that didn&#8217;t support actual story-telling.<br><br>My fault for watching a horror film made in this century.<br><br><strong>Screen appearance:<\/strong> Former Badger&#8217;s Drift resident <a href=\"https:\/\/midsomermurders.fandom.com\/wiki\/Simon_Fletcher\" title=\"Simon Fletcher\">Simon Fletcher<\/a>, which made me wonder why I wasn&#8217;t watching vintage British <em>Krimis<\/em> instead.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0095031\/?ref_=ls_t_2\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9d1568aef6792a0d00da0ed33e31bf63\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0095031\/?ref_=ls_t_2\">Dirty Rotten Scoundrels<\/a> (1988)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Amazon Prime, original English<\/em><br>Is it weird to see Michael Caine in a comedy? I don&#8217;t know. Mostly interesting for the clothes\/hair and the scenery in a swank corner of Europe I have never seen. If I&#8217;m comparing the month&#8217;s 80s buddy comedies (despite their rivalry, Caine and Steve Martin were buddies), I liked <em>Real Men<\/em> better.<br><br><strong>Notable:<\/strong> Directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000568\/?ref_=tttrv_tr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Yoda\/Cookie Monster\/Fozzie\/the clerk at Joliet Prison\">Yoda\/Cookie Monster\/Fozzie\/the clerk at Joliet Prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0829150\/?ref_=ls_t_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4f367a433d1eeb9b1abebecb0a7bedd0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0829150\/?ref_=ls_t_1\">Dracula Untold<\/a> (2014)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Netflix, original English<\/em><br>Good storyline and dialog, and absolutely excellent costumes on everybody. Fight scenes had too much CGI and went on too long for me, but I enjoyed the concept of this origin story, and its retelling.  <br><br>The IMDB helpfully informs us that the body count is 5687, right up there with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/radishthegreat.com\/blog\/2022\/07\/05\/what-is-so-rare-as-a-movie-in-june\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Hot Shots! Part Deux\">Hot Shots!
